Description

The Systems Administrator will support the operations of the clients server and network environment, along with assisting the IT leadership with Tier 3 support across the metropolitan area. This includes: planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all Microsoft servers, network hardware, software, and communication (MPLS, WAN, LAN) links while ensuring minimal downtime. The person will also diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide training and support as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other team members to provide escalated support for the local agency along with assist the IT leadership in providing Tier 3 support for all supported customers.
  • Work with the site technical lead, management, support team members, end users and department heads to identify, support and document the network, all associated peripherals and servers
  • Respond to emergency network outages and server issues as requested and needed to ensure maximum up-time of the network and computing environment.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, servers and software products.
  • Maintain security solutions, including firewall and anti-virus solutions for networked hardware and components
  • Install, configure, test, maintain and monitor all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless solutions
  • Perform on-site analyze, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network/server problems for a variety of users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network and server improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network and server component inventory.
  • Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, help desk support staff on Tier 3 issues.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team as required.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
B.A. or B.S. in a technical field or a relevant combination of education and experience.
Certifications:

Comp TIA – A+, Network+, Security+, Server+
MCSE (current)
CCNA (a plus)

Knowledge & Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience as an enterprise Windows Server Administrator – supporting (2003, 2007, 2008. 2008R2, 2012)
  • Expert-­‐level skills with Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
  • VMware Enterprise administration experience
  • Assist with managing VMware infrastructure, NetApp SANs
    3 – 5 years of experience administering a VMware     ESX/VSphere environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources.
  • General understanding of VoIP equipment and operation Powering the phone
  • Getting voice and data networks to a phone
  • Able to work with a VoIP provider to deploy and support
